About DT8

The DT8 Memorial Fund and Flag Football Tournament was birth from the tragic loss of our son David Tyler II, who passed away in 2014 at the age of 23. David was an exceptional athlete and PAC-10 football standout at Spring-Ford Area High School and in his senior year at Pottstown High School. Although he only played his first year at Shippensburg University, David continued in the sport in various flag football leagues. David was always at his best when he was on the field. As a tribute to our son, we wanted to do something positive through flag football, a sport that brings youth and adults of all ages and genders together. David’s high school teammates called him “DT” and his prominent jersey number was “8” so in his honor, the annual DT8 memorial flag football tournament became a thing; our first event was in May 2015.

The DT8 Memorial Fund is a non-profit organization (501.c.3) that raises money to support organized youth football programs. Our fundraising efforts help local teams offer reduced or free registration, fulfill uniform and equipment needs, offset field maintenance costs, cover tournament fees, and other league expenses.

Tournament Day is filled with family-friendly activities, awesome raffle baskets, good music, lots of food, and of course, flag football! Attendees receive an event t-shirt, and memorabilia. Trophies are awarded to the winning teams, and a special MVP trophy is given to the player that we believe exemplifies the passion we remember and love about David.

It is through the DT8 flag football tournament that the Tyler family keeps the spirit of David thriving.
